Windows Phone Marketplace hits 50,000 apps

(added few months ago!)

Redmond’s Windows Phone Marketplace has surpassed the 50,000 app milestone. Of course, Android and iOS fans will probably boast that Apple’s and Google’s app depositories have more than 500,000 and 400,000 apps respectively, but that it beside the point.

The Windows Phone Marketplace has reached the 50,000 mark in the space of just 14 months, which is a pretty good result. It took Google 19 months to reach 50,000 months, while Apple managed in 12 months. What’s more, the trend is accelerating. It took Microsoft more than a year to hit the 40,000 mark, but the next 10,000 apps appeared in just 40 days. Things are finally looking up for Windows Phone, and as one tech hack put it – it is probably the best mobile OS you’ve never tried.
