For a limited time, through 8/16/2011, the Blue Canon PowerShot A495 digital camera is available for the very low price of just $49. The 10.0MP A495 from Canon boasts a 3.3x optical zoom lens and a 2.5-inch LCD, good main features for a point-and-shoot camera at a price such as this. Normally the deal provider, Amazon.com, sells the camera for between $69 and $110. So how capable is the Canon PowerShot A495 as a digital camera? According to customer reviews on Amazon the A495 takes nice pictures of non-moving subjects but the process for capturing images is a bit of a drag.

What customers explain is the A495 is slow at focusing in on subjects (note the A495 offers 9 face/object focusing), the cameras 2.5-inch LCD is low resolution and with no dedicated viewfinder you’ll need to rely on the low-res. LCD for shot framing, the camera doesn’t come with a SD card when you buy it so you’ll need to pick-up your own SD card if you plan on taking more than a couple of photos, and finally the camera doesn’t come with optical image stabilization.
