I am finally out of hibernation - well, I was on a trip for a few weeks with my family and returned only a week back. Let's get on to technology. 2010 is pegged as a year where gadgets are gonna get more powerful and incorporate everything touch / gesture based and also incorporate a wide range of social tools to your aid - like it or not. So, here's a low down on the top 5 gadgets to watch out for in 2010.
Apple Tablet
Apple started off with the Mac and took off to a new high with iPods and iPhone. The next wave from the Apple camp is gonna be a “tablet”. The Apple Tablet is expected to be much more than your iPhone and a tad less functional than the Macbook AIR. But the beauty is gonna run full stream on a new modififed version of the iPhone OS. Android is gonna have competetion on this front finally another OS that powers mobiles / tablets / netbooks alike.
iPhone 4.0
The next upgrade to the iPhone from 3GS will be the iPhone 4.0 that will sport the much needed 5 megapixel camera and also an AMOLED display which have become the norm for smartphones today. Also, the iPhone 4.0 is expected to come installed with a cool host of utility apps. It is expected to also have a trackpad much like the Macbook which will allow gesture control too.
Chrome OS
Google has had a fair amount of success eversince the launch of Android. Not contend with that - the internet gaint is now gunning for the OS dominance by pushing in Chrome OS. Google seems to have a well planned stratergy in place already to popularize Chrome by targetting it at the netbooks initially which currently doesn't have light-weight OS's on offer. But only time will tell as to how successful Google will be on the OS space since it is a different ball game all-together.
3D TV
The recent and on-going success of the movie Avatar which has set new box office records as the highest grossing 3D film ever. The 3D experience is all set to come into your living room too with the launch of 3D TVs this year. Sky as well as ESPN are all set to launch 3D TV channels in 2010 and there are already deals being inked between Sony and FIFA, so we can expect to watch a few matches of the 2010 World Cup in 3D!!
Motion-sensing video game controls
Yup you heard me right and guess who's behind it? Microsoft!! The project is code-named as Natal and is all set to take your gaming experience to new levels. XBox is expected to get a new set of motion-sensing controls that will make gamers all that more addictive. This seems to be Microsoft's idea to tap a portion of the market taken over by Wii. So, that's a round up of things that we can expect in 2010. If you are personally looking forward for any gadget this year do let me know. As for me, I am waiting for Nexus One to be officially available in India.
